Spring 1

This half-term, our curriculum question is, 'Can I tell a Terrific Tale?'  Classic stories like The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Billy Goats Gruff will be used to build literacy, language, imagination, and essential life skills (empathy and problem-solving) through familiar plots and repetition.

Literacy and Language:  Repetitive phrases and simple structures aid memory, sequencing and vocabulary development.

Comprehension: Familiar plots help children to understand narrative structure and make predictions.

Imagination and Creativity: Encourage role-play, retelling and creative exploration.

Social and Emotional Learning: Teach life lessons, good vs evil, consequences and empathy in a safe context. Develop problem-solving, resilience, and understanding of rules and cause and effect.
