Class Book
Our curriculum question for Spring 2 is 'What's Outside? This half-term we are focusing on growing and life cycles. Our first text is Jack and the Beanstalk, and we will be learning about the life cycle of a bean plant and planting our own bean seeds. We will then read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and look at the life cycle of a butterfly.
In week 1 we will also focus on a poem, The Lost Words. We will be going on a nature walk and matching descriptive words to things within nature.
In our Drawing Club sessions we will look at The Little Red Hen, Rapunzel and The Enormous Turnip.
Our Curriculum question for Summer 1 is 'What's the Scariest Creature?' In the first three weeks of this half-term we will be reading Handa's Surprise and learning about the continent of Africa. We will look at the similarities and differences between some African countries and our own environment. Through our story, we will learn about animals that live in Africa and some of the exotic fruits that grow there.
In our Drawing Club sessions, we will also read We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Micheal Rosen and Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.
For the final two weeks of this half-term we will read 'The Gruffalo' by Julia Donaldson. We will also spend time learning about the scariest creatures that ever walked the Earth. Dinosaurs!
