Learning Challenge

What part would I play in the Industrial Revolution?

This term, we are taking a look at the local area of Long Eaton and how it changed as a result of the Industrial Revolution. 

Would you look good in this?


During our Summer 1 term, our Learning Challenge focus is Would you look good in this? We will be focusing on fashion and clothing through the ages, from the dawn of time to modern day. 

Would you open Pandora’s box?

This half term, our Learning Challenge is “ Would you open Pandora’s box?”.  We will be looking at the Ancient Greeks and their lives, including the Olympic games and their many myths from both a historical and a geographic view point.

Would you survive a natural disaster?

This half term we will be looking at a variety of different Natural Disasters.  These will include ones that come from deep within the earth such as Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tsunamis.  We will also look at ones caused by weather such as Tornadoes, Hurricanes and Wildfires.  We will look at how they are created as well as the impact on our planet.

Autumn Term 2 – What Do I Think About Art?

This term we will be looking at different artists and their work and questioning our own thoughts and opinions on different pieces. We are going to be able to justify our thoughts and feelings, while understanding that Art is subjective and the opinions of others are still valid, though they may differ from our own.

Autumn Term 1- Who were the Anglo-Saxons?

This term we will be finding out about the Anglo-Saxons, from how they ploughed the fields and sown crops, to honing their skills as craftsmen, metal workers and beautiful jewellery makers. 


Did you know that the Anglo-Saxon name for towns was burh. The word 'burh' still appears in place names in Britain - Peterborough and Scarborough are two examples!
