Day 7, 30.01.20 Kolkata

Today has been another busy training day. Today we have been giving ideas on how to teach about direction (up, down, left, right etc) with a naughty parrot hand puppet! Everyone has really enjoyed it  and the Indian teachers thought that the children in their school would love it!

This afternoon I have worked with the teachers from Brace Bridge to put together a plan for teaching in class tomorrow. I hope that Durham class will be pleased to hear that we are going to be making tiger masks showing Augustus, the tiger from the story with a great big smile on his face! As you might expect all the children will have to do phonics and maths first....

Arti and Pratima have now challenged me to count to 20 in Bengali.....It's a big challenge but I'm trying!!!!

This afternoon I visited the Nari Dana centre (translated it means women's wings). This is another part of the CRS charity that focuses on providing training for women so they can earn money to support their family. The centre today trains women how to sew and embroider. It was really interesting to see the women at work and great to hear how such projects can really change lives for the better.
