Autumn 2
This half-term, our curriculum question is, 'What shall we celebrate?' Children will learn about popular celebrations. They will learn about celebrations within their own culture and families, and also within other cultures in our community and around the world.
They will learn about celebrations familiar to the children, such as bonfire night, birthdays, and Christmas. We will look at how these are celebrated at home and around the world. Children will be given the opportunity to talk about celebrations special to them, their own experiences, and reflect on how they are the same and how they are different.
The children will also celebrate their own special qualities. Following the children's interests, we will investigate popular superheroes and encourage the children to celebrate their own superhero qualities.
Later in the term, we will read Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. The children will learn about the continent of Antarctica. We will find out about the climate and about the animals that live there. We will explore freezing and melting, and compare our own locality with Antarctica.
